By-Laws of the
Article
1 – Name
The name of the club shall be the Lenape Valley Jr. Wrestling Club. It shall be a non-profit organization serving Byram, Stanhope, and Netcong.
Article
2 – Club’s Purpose
Ř Introduce club members to the sport of wrestling.
Ř Club members will gain a better understanding of the rules used in wrestling.
Ř The wrestlers will increase their skill level throughout the year.
Ř All wrestlers will be taught good sportsmanship and how to be a good member of the team.
Ř The wrestling club will try to improve all members’ self-esteem through the sport of wrestling and provide a safe learning environment for all club members.
Article 3 - Membership
SECTION 1: Membership will be composed of each family, parents, or guardians having children registered in the Lenape Valley Jr. Wrestling Club.
SECTION 2: All officers of the Lenape Valley Jr. Wrestling Club are part of the membership.
SECTION 3: The Executive Board may provide associate membership to anyone who actively participates in the club.
SECTION 4: All members shall have the right and privilege to nominate candidates for office, to vote in elections, and to attend parents’ meetings.
SECTION 5: Membership shall be continuous until the member leaves or fails to pay registration fee.
SECTION 6: Each family is entitled to one vote per parent or guardian in all voting matters.
Article 4 – Meetings
SECTION 1: All meetings will be called by the President or at the request of a majority of the Board members.
SECTION 2: Meetings are limited to Board members only. Upon approval from the Board, special guests may attend.
SECTION 3: All Board members must be notified of meetings by phone, mail, or in person.
SECTION 4: Quorum is defined as “majority of Board members.”
SECTION 5: A quorum must be present at a meeting before business can be legally transacted.
SECTION 6: Roll call will be taken by the Secretary.
SECTION 7: The Board will have parents’ meetings during the season as they deem necessary.
SECTION 8: The President has the right to vote or not to vote.
SECTION 9: The outcome of a motion is determined by the majority vote. If there is a tie without the President’s vote, the President can vote in the affirmative, thereby creating a majority for the motion. If the President abstains from voting in such a case, however, the motion is lost because it did not receive a majority.
SECTION 10: All motions will be voted on by Board members only.

11: Rules of Order
The meetings shall be conducted according to Robert’s Rules of Order as administered by the President, on all questions not covered by the constitution and by-laws and such standing roles as the Executive Board may adopt, following the General Format – Call to Order, Reading of the Minutes, Treasurer’s Report, Committee Report, Old Business, New Business, and Adjournment.
Article 5 - Officers
SECTION 1: Nominations will be held the last two weeks of the season. Voting and introduction of new officers will take place at the Awards Banquet.
SECTION 2: The term of office shall be for one year, running from November 15 to November 14 of the following year.
SECTION 3: The officers of the club will be the Executive Board consisting of:
(1) President
(2) Vice President
(3) Secretary
(4) Treasurer
(5) General Manager
(6) Head Coach
(7) Coordinator
SECTION 4: The Head Coach cannot be President or Vice President.
SECTION 5: The first priority of the Board at all times is to ensure that Board vacancies are filled promptly.
SECTION 6: Board members are to be elected from the membership only. After elections the Board has the right to appoint to fill vacancies.
SECTION 7: Board members who miss three consecutive Board meetings without good cause shall be removed from the Board and replaced.

8: Officers – Duties
and Powers
The PRESIDENT shall:
The President will direct and oversee all operations of the Club through The Executive Board. He will enforce all policies, rules, and regulations set forth by The Executive Board. He will be responsible for holding regular business meetings in order to ensure smooth operation of all activities. He will monitor activities and progress of all Board members and their committees. He will be responsible for recruiting and filling any vacancies on the Executive Board. He will also represent the Club or be responsible for ensuring that the Club is represented at all League meetings and events.
The VICE PRESIDENT shall:
The Vice President shall assist the President with operations of the Club. In the absence of the President he will hold regular business meetings. He will assist other board members in the formation of committees, and recruiting members for such committees. He will report to and assist the President in monitoring progress of all committees.
The SECRETARY shall:
The Secretary will be responsible for keeping accurate minutes of all meetings. He will be responsible for collection of and storage of By-Laws, documents, and records of the club. He will assist the President with all correspondence and public relations for the Club.
The TREASURER shall:
The Treasurer will be responsible for keeping accurate records of all financial transactions for the Club. He will report to and advise the President and other Board Members of any and all financial obligations of the club. He will provide accurate financial report at all regular business meetings of the Board.
The GENERAL MANAGER shall:
The General Manager will be responsible for ensuring that the Club is properly equipped. He will be responsible for communicating with the coaching staff and determining needs for equipment and uniforms. He will acquire and advise the Board of any technical and pricing information for all equipment and make recommendations for purchasing such equipment. He will be responsible for overseeing the dispersing, collecting, and storage of all equipment.
The HEAD COACH (Board Responsibility) shall:
The Head Coach will be responsible for directing and overseeing activities of the coaching staff. He will assist the President in recruiting coaches for all levels of the Club. He will set regulations for practice schedules and assist coaches for all levels. He will also set rules and regulations for conduct and attendance of wrestlers at all events and practices. He will set clear disciplinary regulations for infractions of these rules. He will set clear guidelines for wrestle-offs and has the authority to exclude any wrestler from competing for disciplinary or attendance infractions.
The COORDINATOR
shall:
The Coordinator will be responsible for securing facilities for all events and activities of the club. He will be responsible for scheduling all competitive or celebratory events of the Club.
NOTE:
Board Members are not expected to perform these duties solely. They are expected to recruit and form committees to perform the functions they are responsible for.
Article 6 – General Information
SECTION 1: Any child from K through 8th grade can participate in the Club. The requirements are to have a copy of the birth certificate and pay registration fees at the time of registration, providing rules and regulations of the Lenape Valley Jr. Wrestling Club and the Sussex County Mat Club are met.
SECTION 2: Hardship cases will be reviewed by the Board.
SECTION 3: An Emergency Treatment Authorization form will be filled out at the time of registration and kept readily available by the Coaches.
SECTION 4: Code of Conduct (see attached addendum) forms will be signed by wrestler and parent or guardian at time of registration, along with Varsity Rules and Wrestle Off Criteria. All members shall have the right and privilege to nominate candidates for office, to vote in elections, and to attend parent’s meetings.
SECTION 5: Club Levels
(1) Novice – First Year Wrestlers
(2) Junior Varsity - Two or More Years Experience
(3) Varsity - Experienced
(4) All wrestlers can and will move up or down through the different levels as determined by the entire coaching staff. All level changes will always be in the best interest of the individual wrestler.
SECTION 6: Amendments and additions to the By-Laws may be discussed at any meeting. Voting on that amendment shall take place at the next scheduled meeting.
SECTION 7: Any amendments or additions to the By-Laws of the Lenape Valley Jr. Wrestling Club shall require a majority vote of the Executive Board.
SECTION 8: All monies donated to the Club for uniforms, equipment, and materials shall become the sole property of the Club for purposes of payment and disbursement.
SECTION 9: Items purchased with monies earned solely by the Club-approved fund raiser, both past and present, remain the property of the Club.
SECTION 10: Any check can be signed by the President, Vice President, or Treasurer, as long as they are approved signatures by the bank.
SECTION 11: Expenditure amounts totaling $50 or less for the daily operation of the Club do not require approval by the Board. Expenditure amounts over $50 require the majority vote of the Board.
SECTION 12: The Executive Board will select a Head Coach by the Annual Banquet. All interested parties shall submit a letter to the Executive Board by the end of the regular season.
SECTION 13: The Executive Board reserves the right to approve all Assistant Coaches.
SECTION 14: The Head Coach will present the names of potential Assistant Coaches to the Executive Board for approval.
SECTION 15: Only certified Coaches are allowed on the mat.
SECTION 16: Coaches will abide and enforce the rules approved by the Executive Board.
SECTION 17: All Coaches are to pay the registration fee if they have children in the Club.
SECTION 18: Headgear is required at practice drilling and live wrestling.
SECTION 19: Any Coach or Assistant Coach whose prime concern is winning a match, no matter what the cost, or who would sacrifice the safety and well being of his team or individual wrestlers for ambitious reasons of his own, shall be disqualified and dropped from the Club.
SECTION 20: Use of, or under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol, on or near practice times or matches by any Club member is subject to immediate expulsion from the Club by the Executive Board.

21: Weight Reduction
Due to the growing concern in the sport about the dangers of weight loss, the Club will emphasize safety and closely monitor all wrestlers’ weights. This is especially important due to the fact that the wrestlers involved with the Club are in their growing stages. At no time will the coaching staff ask the wrestlers to cut weight. It is also the coaches’ responsibility to prohibit any unnatural and unhealthy weight loss.
SECTION 22: All accidents, regardless of severity, will require a Coach to fill out an accident form and notify the wrestler’s parents or guardian and the Executive Board of such accident.
SECTION 23: Parent/guardian and wrestlers are responsible for any equipment provided by the Club that must be turned in. Failure to return said equipment will result in forfeiture of any trophy(s) and monetary replacement of equipment/uniform which may have otherwise been earned.
SECTION 24: Any Board member, Officer, or Coach shall be removed from duty and banned from any, and all Club activities, including practices and matches for Good Cause.
Good Cause is defined as any actions of Improper Moral Character or Turpitude including, but not limited to, any Convictions, Indictments, Accusations, or any Criminal Charges or Offenses, being filed against or charged by a Law Enforcement Authority against any Board Member, Coach, or Officer.
Of all charges, the following are considered Good Cause for immediate dismissal and banishment from any and all club activities:
Charges or offenses involving the possession or sale of Drugs and Narcotics, including Marijuana; any Criminal Charges concerning or involving the Endangerment of a child, Assault, Abuse, or Sexual Offenses, Theft or Improper Use of Funds.
This Section is retroactive to include any Criminal Charges currently pending against any Board Member, Coach, or Officer.
SECTION 25: A Board Member, Coach, or Officer so removed under Section 25 may apply for readmission in the event the charges are dismissed or the person is acquitted. This section does not apply to persons who receive conditional discharges, pre-trial intervention, or any other diversionary treatment.
